Navajo County in Northern Arizona has struggled with the absence of reliable and affordable internet for many years. With over 9,900 square miles of land, the County houses more than 105,000 people including the Navajo, Hopi and White Mountain Apache tribes. Those living in this area need high-quality internet to do their jobs, participate in school, access healthcare and stay connected.
In 2022, the Navajo County Board of Supervisors selected eX² Technology to design, build, operate and maintain a sustainable, open-access fiber middle-mile network spanning more than 110 miles. Upon completion, it will interconnect with existing regional fiber networks as well as facilitate future connections to Phoenix, neighboring counties and an I-40 corridor expansion to Albuquerque. This middle-mile network will serve as a broadband building block and economic growth engine for Navajo County to promote telehealth, enable remote learning, improve public safety, and above all, deliver internet access to underserved Navajo County communities.
eX² is pre-marketing the availability of dark fiber to those wishing to expand their services to the region. With expected completion in 2025, the 100% underground infrastructure will provide the middle-mile data transport to connect to homes, businesses, community anchor institutions and more!
